  2.     Cirrus Logic Vesa Bios Extension 2.0 TSR (CLVBETSR.EXE)
  3.         Version 1.0 (7-30-96)

  5. Overview:
  6.  
  7.     CLVBETSR is a Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) implementation
  8.     of the VESA BIOS Extensions Standard Version 2.0. This particular
  9.     version of CLVBETSR currently supports the following 
  10.     Cirrus Logic products.
  11.  
  12.          CL-GD5436
  13.          CL-GD5446
  14.                 SVGA graphic accelerators.
  15.  
  16. Installation:
  17.  
  18.     CLVBETSR is installed by executing CLVBETSR.EXE
  19.     Successful installation is confirmed by a sign on message
  20.     which displays the date and version.
  21.  
  22. DeInstallation:
  23.  
  24.     After installation, the Cirrus Logic VBE tsr can be disabled with
  25.     the command line option -D or /D. For example
  26.  
  27.          clvbetsr -d
  28.  
  29.     would disable a previosly installed version. A message is displayed
  30.     to confirm that the tsr is disabled.
  31.  
  32.     Executing CLVBETSR when a disabled version is resident will reenable
  33.     the disabled tsr. A message is displayed to confirm that the TSR
  34.     has been re-enabled.
  35.  
  36.     In addition to the modifications necessary for PDR's associated
  37.     with ClVBETSR.EXE (5-13-96), this release (7-30-96) has the
  38.     following changes:
  39.         
  40.        1).    CLVBETSR currently supports the CL-GD5436 and the CL-GD5446.
  41.  
  42.        2).    800x600 16 color and 1024x768 16 color are
  43.         not available on 1MB or 2 MB boards with a
  44.         128 x 16 memory configuration.
  45.  
  46.        3).  Vesa Local Bus configurations support the
  47.         Banked mode only.
  48.  
  49.            4).  Support for QUAKE Shareware v1.01 added.
  50.  
  51.        5).  Supports linear mode in PCI local bus configuration.

  54. Available Modes supported by CLVBETSR.EXE for CL-GD5436 and CL-GD5446.

  74. Known Problems.
  75.  
  76.     1). Loading the TSR high has resulted in page fault errors with
  77.         some applications.
  78.             Current solution is to load the TSR in conventional memory. 
  79.             Please refer to your memory managers documentation for further
  80.             instructions.

  82.     2). You may encounter screen flicker in the following modes.
  83.             1024x768 4bpp 70Hz and 72Hz refresh rates in Banked modes.
  84.             1024x768 8bpp 87iHz and 85Hz refresh rates in Linear modes.
  85.             800x600 15bpp and 16bpp 72Hz refresh rates in Linear modes.
  86.             640x480 15bpp and 16bpp 60Hz refresh rates in Banked and Linear modes.  
  87.             Current solution is to use CLMODE utility to set your refresh rate
  88.             either higher or lower to avoid problems.

  90. NOTE: These problems are system dependent and could not be reproduced across
  91.       all platforms.
